Acts of terrorism can be prevented if only the war stops and negotiations with people in Donbass begin, considers the ex-chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for National Security and Defense and former people's deputy from a faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine Georgiy Kriuchkov.

There is an increasing number of armed units in Donetsk and Lugansk regions who do not obey to anyone, and they are ready for anything, the former head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee for National Security and Defense Georgiy Kriuchkov stated in his comment to GORDON.

"The war, even if it is undeclared, led to the situation when if there is an increasing number of armed units in Donetsk and Lugansk. They are undisciplined, they do not obey to anybody, some of them leave the ATO zone with arms and come to Kiev. It has already been reported in mass media that the amount of arms in the Ukrainian capital has increased four times in comparison with the beginning of the year. There are regular skirmishes between the fighters. These people have only one craft – to kill, and they can do anything," the expert said.

According to Kriuchkov, the most vulnerable regions are Kiev, Odessa, and Kharkiv.

"Threat of the acts of terrorism in Ukraine is not only absolutely real, but it increases every day. The most vulnerable regions in this sense are Kiev, Odessa and Kharkiv. I worry how well nuclear power plants, chemical plants and oil refineries are protected now. Any act of terrorism at these objects is fraught with very serious consequences, and not only for Ukraine," he stated.

He considers that people whose relatives have been killed are another factor for spreading of terrorism.

"Besides fighters, there is another danger. Many civilians were killed during the military operations in Donbass. Imagine a man who lost his family, home, and property in the war. He has nothing left – neither the sacred, nor the light, only revenge. There are many people like this. I do not exclude that they can form groups and take revenge on the state that appeared incapable to ensure security in the east," Kriuchkov said.
