Changes in the Russian policy may be expected when the Western credits will become necessary, the Russian military expert Alexander Golts said in his comment to the GORDON .
"I do not expect any changes in the Russian policy until there is a serious problems with Western credits. It will be all over then, Russia will be doomed to either refuse from the credits or radically change the policy. It will mean replacing of stakeholders in the Russian political arena. The stakeholders include people from Putin’s close environment who have shaped this course. However, I can hardly imagine that it may happen," he reported.
According to the expert, the support of the separatists will hardly ever be remembered at the background of the current crisis in Moscow.
"Under the conditions of the general financial crisis, the support of separatists in the southeast of Ukraine is such a trifle that nobody will even mention it at the background of the current situation in Moscow. As far as I understand, there are no Russian units in the territory of Ukraine now, and there are no arms supplies or new military equipment as well," Golts said.
In his opinion, Russian leaders hoped to make Donbass similar to South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
"I think that Russian leaders made a decision on the transformation of the southeast of Ukraine into a self-proclaimed republic like South Ossetia and Abkhazia in March or definitely in August. Though it is not openly expressed, there are such hints, and it is obvious hypocrisy," the expert summed up.
