The native of Lugansk, blogger and publicist Sergey Ivanov said in the comment to the GORDON why Ukraine should not be on the offensive in Donbass now, which tactics of military actions would be the most effective and what status Donetsk and Lugansk must be granted after the war.

Ukraine must be on the offensive or negotiate a new truce? The blogger of Lugansk Sergey Ivanov is convinced that neither. In his opinion, the Ukrainian army is strong enough to resist the terrorists, but casualties in case of direct offensive will be unreasonably high. The recipe of victory according to Ivanov is humanitarian reservation in the occupied territories, diversion activity and waiting for Russia to stop supporting the terrorists.

I supposed and stated it publicly that the situation must change with the appointment of Turchinov to the position of the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council

I am not an advocate of either doctrine. Under the circumstances, Ukraine would demonstrate that it is able to fight. Before the events, Ukraine was in the position of a person who could not hit back, being restrained either with the indecision of the command or with other obscure factors. I supposed and stated it publicly that the situation must change with the appointment of Turchinov to the position of the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council. I know that Ukraine has been prepared and built up its military potential. What has happened demonstrates that Ukraine can give a serious rebuff to the terrorists.

This gave a clear message to the Russian leaders that the terrorists and part of the Russian army, who are now in Donbass, are not enough to defeat the Ukrainian army, which has been reequipped, dressed by the volunteers and took off balaclavas. The most important point is that it is not afraid and wants to fight if necessary.

Offensive is not necessary. It is nonsense. I hope that the top leadership of the state understands it. The offensive will result in an enormous number of victims, and all those people who have just learnt to fight, who have learned to cope with technologies will simply die. We perfectly understand what it means to capture a city. Especially, Donetsk and Lugansk with their endless industrial zones that can each conceal a small army.

We must be engaged in intelligence operations and know everything about them. I welcome any sabotage activities in the rear of the occupation forces and any guerrilla movements

There will never be truce there, too, because we know what means truce according to the terrorists. I support symmetrical responses to the terrorists’ attacks. If they fired a volley at us, we must fire two volleys back. We must be engaged in intelligence operations and know everything about them. I welcome any sabotage activities in the rear of the occupation forces and any guerrilla movements that has begun to evolve now; currently, there is data on the activities of guerrilla groups that destroy traitors. Russia has already achieved it that every elderly lady in Ukraine will take a gun and hide it in the garden.

We should not release Donetsk and Lugansk, either. We will spend fantastic and colossal forces to maintain order in these cities stuffed with weapons. We see a lot of controversy among the terrorists – they must be clashed against each other and be separated. Intelligence and counterintelligence must be active. Agents must work as well as recruited and re-recruited people. Meanwhile, it is reckless to attack in columns and liberate these cities; moreover, the loss among the attackers is always greater than that among the defenders.

We need to delineate the occupied territory and make it a humanitarian reservation. It will be this way. As a person with Lugansk registration in the passport, I can say that this humanitarian quarantine will last as long as Russia stops sending weapons and terrorists there. After this quarantine, Donetsk and Lugansk regions must be granted the status of military zones. Especially in Lugansk because Donetsk is a city full of money, and everything will remain unchanged even after all the events – men in expensive fur coats will listen to chanson music, and women will go shopping to expensive shops. It is more important to do it in Lugansk because Lugansk region has more than 800 kilometers of common border with Russia – the major supplier of weapons and fighters.

Order must be restored there after all, and the industrial part of Donbass must be transformed into our Tyumen

As soon as the Russian factor disappears, the terrorists will be destroyed, military personnel will be simply withdrawn, local collaborators and occupiers will be eliminated during the clear-up operation. For example, I do not want to pay taxes for these people who will go to jail and who killed a lot of my friends. It is easier and better to eliminate them. It would be better for them if we do it. After that, we need to send troops to Donetsk and Lugansk and militarize these cities. Besides, Lugansk was a military region in the Soviet times.

Individual work must be done to close illegal mines, given that illegal mines gave a huge amount of lumpens who supported the separatists. Order must be restored there after all, and the industrial part of Donbass must be transformed into our Tyumen. People will come there and extract coal in shifts. The current situation is unacceptable when you live there with a mine in your vegetable garden.
