People's deputy Podolyak: The unification of orthodox churches in Ukraine is a question of the foreseeable future
The People's Deputy from Samopomich party, the first deputy head of Verkhovna Rada committee concerning culture and spirituality Irina Podolyak considers that it is not enough just to believe in creation of One Orthodox Church in
According to the deputy head of parliamentary committee on questions of culture and spirituality Irina Podolyak, after the unification of orthodox churches in Ukraine the creation of one Ukrainian church (with Greek-Catholics also) can take place. Podolyak declared it in the comment to "Gordon" .
"At first there has to be a dialogue and merger of all orthodox churches in . It seems to me that after the unification of orthodox churches the Greco-catholic church will not become a problem for creation of one local Ukrainian church. Therefore the first step has to be a dialogue and merger of orthodox churches and all orthodox faiths which are presented here. As a belief element, of course, it is possible to trust in it, but we should trust a little, and we should help the foresight. If there is such requirement, such desire and understanding of that it is necessary for the state, faiths have to talk with each other",– Podolyak considers.
"Taking into account the tendencies existing today in , the amount of perishes that pass from the patriarchy into Kievan one, and thing that happen in churches of the patriarchy, it seems to me that the question of unification is a question of the foreseeable future. I do not know exact terms"— noted the people's deputy.
"In general, it is not important where you will come, and it is important with what you will come. How long it will take place – is also unknown, but it's not the main question. It is important to have a dialogue and when it ends – God willing",– Irina Podolyak added.
