Lubkivskiy: Putin is walking with a lighter around a gas station. Just a trifle can cause a serious world fire
The Russian President Vladimir Putin got the feel of his role of a “bad guy” and is playing psychological games to demonstrate his power. The adviser of the Head of the Ukrainian Security Service Markiyan Lubkivskiy said this in his comment for the GORDON.
"On the one hand, it is playing on the nerves, it is an attempt to show power and omnipotence to the whole world. A plane here, a vessel there, then invasion into Ukraine. It is supposed to create an impression of pseudo-nervousness and pseudo-power of the Russian Federation. I would characterise it as a cynical provocation and contraposition against the whole world. Putin got the feel of this role, and he is trying to play it. He likes the role of a bad guy, his mind is completely occupied with the desire to be one," Lubkovskiy noted.
At the same time, the adviser of the head of the Ukrainian Security Service considers that this situation is potentially dangerous as it may cause a global conflict.
"On the other hand, this situation poses a serious threat as it triggers the mechanisms of suppressing such provocations, consequently, only a trifle is needed to make this situation burst out into a local and then a global conflict," Markiyan Lubkovskiy thinks.
"Such foul game or intention to show oneself as a bigwig poses risks; it is like walking with a lighter around a gas station. Just a trifle can cause a serious global fire," he added.
