Head of the Lithuanian foreign office Linas Linkevičius believes that the Russian President Vladimir Putin only speaks about trust between countries and global security, but, in fact, he aggravates the tension. The Foreign Minister stated it in his comment for the GORDON.
Frequent and regular demonstration of power is not a harmless game
"Certainly, such actions are a real threat. This is aggravation of tension and loss of trust, this is an illustration of what should not be done. It is irresponsible to act like this! This is frequent and regular demonstration of power, which is not a harmless game. Trust and world security are discussed, but we do not actually see this," considers the diplomat.
Words of the Russian leaders cannot be trusted because they deny facts that do not raise any doubt in the rest of the world, Linkevičius believes.
"There is more than enough evidence to these facts. Though the Russian party constantly and regularly denies it, but I think that it is time to question every word of theirs," Linkevičius noted.
More efforts are required to stop what is going on now
If the world community keeps observing the demonstration of Russian military force and does not do anything, the situation may worsen, he supposes.
"I hope that there will be enough leverage and responsibility to control this situation and to prevent it from becoming a global conflict. However, if nothing is done, there is nothing better to expect. More efforts are required to stop what is going on," the Lithuanian Foreign Minister stated.
