According to Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Angela Merkel, the Chancellor of Germany, during their meeting discussed Ukraine among other topics.

Belarusian opposition politic Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in her interview with Radio Svoboda published on November 26 told that during the meeting with German  Chancellor Angela Merkel they spoke in English without an interpreter.  

Tsikhanouskaya noted that Merkel talked about Ukraine and Ukrainian language. 

“She asked me “Do you understand Ukrainian?” I said “Sure, I do. It is very-very close to the Belarusian (not so close to the Russian) and we understand each other rather easily.” “Well, good for you.” Yes, we had a small talk like this, and we remembered.” 

Belarusian opposition politic Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had a meeting with Merkel in Berlin on October 6. Their conversation lasted 45 minutes. Tsikhanouskaya’s press office reported that they discussed investors’ support for Belarus, help for independent media and civic organizations.
