As soon as negotiations in Berlin and Astana were disrupted, Putin ordered to increase intensity of firing and to storm the Donetsk airport in order to get better conditions for negotiations, the People's Deputy Anton Gerashchenko declared.

Ceasefire in Donbass is possible, and it completely depends on the Russian President Vladimir Putin. This opinion was expressed in the comment to the GORDON  by the Adviser to the Minister of Interior and People's Deputy from the People’s Front Anton Gerashchenko.

"The conflict in Donbass follows a sinusoid. The factors influencing its ups and downs are international relations and negotiations with Putin. As soon as negotiations in Berlin and Astana were disrupted, Putin ordered to increase intensity of firing and to storm the Donetsk airport. Right after it, world leaders and representatives of international organizations start calling him and say, "What are you doing, villains?" "Yes, alright. I am ready for negotiations." He is trying to get better conditions for negotiations. Therefore, of course, ceasefire is possible. To some extent, negotiations will take place but if it does not satisfy Putin, another stage of aggravation of the situation will begin," Gerashchenko considers.

According to the People's Deputy, the Donetsk airport became a symbol of fight of Ukrainians for freedom and independence, therefore Putin and the terrorists force it back. "I think that it would be wrong to give it away (the Donetsk airport. GORDON) – a lot of blood was shed. If it can be held, it must be held," Gerashchenko declared.

Commenting on the statement of the Russian oppositional politician Boris Nemtsov regarding the need to build a wall separating Ukrainian territories officially controlled by Kiev and by terrorists, he noted that, actually, the wall has already been built. "It is not present as such, but the decision is made that there will be a system of checkpoints for the admission of people to the territory of "DNR" and "LNR", and there will be a thorough check of freights. The cordon already exists in this form, and its borders are settled," the politician concluded.
