In society people have the right to express their opinion, but killing for it is mean and low, says the Opposition Block deputy Vadim Rabinovich in his comment to the “Gordon” . “Some people say that those caricatures should not have been published, but it may as well be said that the 9/11 skyscrapers were attacked just because some people were irritated by how big they had been. We live in the world where some things are either allowed or not. We must clearly understand where the freedom of speech is. Assume that tomorrow your site publishes two articles in a row that I don't like. So what should I do? Go and blow up all your office?”, he said.
According to Rabinovich, there must be a civilized reaction to everything.
“There must be a civilized reaction to everything. You don't like a caricature? You don't like someone's opinion? Go to the court, to the structures that are in charge of this. Many people will now tell: “They shouldn't have drawn those caricatures, they shouldn't have provoked them”. So maybe we should pull down Notre Dame de Paris, just in case, not to provoke people? That is not a good argument. In our society people have the right to express their opinion. Those who kill for it – are villains and rascals. They are the worst criminals and murderers”, claimed the deputy.
Rabinovich also considers that although people took to the streets to support the editors of the weekly where the terrorist attack took place, the reaction of the authorities was insufficient.
“There won't be any significant reaction, as this is not the first act of violence. I am in Paris now and have met some people here. Much to my regret the official reaction to terrorism is retarded and not adequate enough. And as for the people – it is totally different. I saw tens of thousands of people rush into the streets of France yesterday. In solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attack many newspapers published those caricatures. The reaction of people is normal, adequate and humane, the reaction of the authorities is zero. And what can they do? Well, they could arrest someone, but the reasons causing such acts will be left aside”, he reported.
According to People's Deputy, the conflict with repatriates in Europe has been rising for a long time now.
“The conflict has been rising long since. Most people who repatriated to Europe totally failed to integrate into European culture and keep sticking to their principles. This doesn't mean that Islam is all about terrorists, but for some reason all terrorists are Muslims. This should also be pondered upon. Especially in London, where in some mosques undisguised provocations and calls for killing take place, and no one reacts”, Rabinovich summed up.
